It's been quite the week for Tottenham Hotspur, whose previously stagnant summer transfer window has burst into life.
Japanese international Kota Takai was brought in to provide centre-back cover from Kawasaki Frontale, while Mohammed Kudus has already made up with Micky Van de Ven after his £55m arrival was confirmed from West Ham.
It seemed as if Morgan Gibbs-White would quickly follow Kudus through the door, but Evangelos Marinakis has kicked up a fuss over the manner Spurs went about completing a deal. An alleged "illegal approach" probably won't stop Gibbs-White's move, but it will certainly delay it. The England international had been booked in for a medical on Friday.
Still, there's hope that the transfer will eventually go through.
Had the Gibbs-White deal been completed on Friday, Daniel Levy would've committed to an £120m outlay in the space of a few days. How un-Levy of him. The big splurge raised questions over the chairman's well-being, but it seems as if there's an exciting explanation for the injection of funds. Several reports suggest there's been increased investment from ENIC, while a naming rights deal for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is finally close.
As a result, we shouldn't expect Tottenham's spending to conclude with Kudus and Gibbs-White.

At the end of a busy Thursday, Fabrizio Romano (via The Spurs Express on X) confirmed that Spurs will be on the hunt for more signings once the Gibbs-White deal hopefully goes through.
The England international, who can perform as a No. 10 or as a box-to-box midfielder, should complete Spurs' attack. Although, further outgoings could force the club to readdress their frontline, with Brentford's Yoane Wissa supposedly still of interest.
However, it seems as if Spurs will be focusing their attention elsewhere for the time being. Romano notes that acquiring a new midfielder is our next target for the summer transfer window.
Given the array of box-to-boxers we currently boast, you have to think that we're after a holding midfielder. I've said many a time that we require a destroyer type who also boasts an impressive passing range. That's the profile we should be after. Douglas Luiz and Joao Palhinha have been listed as potential options.
I've been bullish on Luiz and believe he's a market opportunity we shouldn't pass up, even if his best work at Aston Villa arrived from a more advanced, as opposed to disciplined, midfield role. Palhinha, meanwhile, is superb defensively, but leaves plenty to be desired in possession.
Perhaps Adam Wharton is a feasible option given the injection of cash. He's the dream.
