Who is the best Tottenham player of all-time? Let's take a look, here are our contenders for the 10 greatest Tottenham Hotspur players of all-time.

Tottenham Hotspur is an incredibly big sports entity. Having started off with humble beginnings, over time, they have been home to some of the best players in the world.

It is always nice to take a trip down memory lane. No matter where Tottenham end up in the future, they can be proud to recall incredible memories with some of the best players to grace the pitch.

With that being said, here are the 10 greatest Tottenham Hotspur players of all-time. This is a subjective list which will be judged based on a cross-section between games played, honours won, cultural impact and fan popularity.

The 10 greatest Tottenham Hotspur players of all-time

10. Gareth Bale

It is impossible to start an all-time Tottenham list without Gareth Bale. The Welshman certainly makes the cut of Tottenham's 10 greatest players in history.

Signed from Southampton in 2007, Gareth Bale spent six years at Tottenham before leaving in 2013. However, six years was all he needed to establish himself as a club legend.

Winning the Football League Cup in 2008, Gareth Bale excited fans when he first broke onto the scene. The enigmatic forward scored some screamers, garnering him worldwide acclaim.

Ultimately, Bale joined Real Madrid in 2013. There, he won five Champions League trophies and three La Ligas. However, it is fair to say that he is remembered more fondly by Tottenham fans.

9. Paul Gascoigne

Finding a football fan who doesn't love Gazza is like finding a needle in a hay-stack. The legendary midfielder is an English icon and one who Tottenham Hotspur are very happy to have in their Hall of Fame.

Gascoigne is simply one of those players who played "pure football." He had a natural talent about him and a swagger which couldn't be taught. With great speed and good feet, Gascoigne wasn't flashy but he was almost impossible to tackle.

Paul Gascoigne joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1988, signing from Newcastle United. He signed for the legendary Terry Venables side and he even won the FA Cup with Tottenham.

Despite being unfortunate with injuries, Paul Gascoigne certainly made his mark at Tottenham Hotspur. He made 92 league appearances for Spurs, matching his record from Newcastle.

8. Gary Lineker

Nowadays, Gary Lineker is renowned for his punditry and media personality. However, Tottenham fans will never forget the legendary English striker for his time spent in North London.

Gary Lineker joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1989. The striker left Barcelona to join Tottenham, which was always going to win him brownie points with the supporters. Eventually, he left Tottenham in 1992 to join Nagoya Grampus.

An established England professional, Gary Lineker was mostly known for his cunning ability to exploit space in the opposition's box. He was always found in the right place at the right time.

Equally, he was never in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was a true sportsman and a signifier of respect, two traits which many modern players could learn from.

7. Pat Jennings

Not many players left behind the legacy which Pat Jennings did. Despite going on to represent Arsenal, the legendary goalkeeper certainly spent his best days at Tottenham Hotspur.

Pat Jennings is one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever play in England. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Pat Jennings signed for Tottenham Hotspur as a youngster from Watford in 1964.

Jennings then went onto make an incredible 472 league appearances for Tottenham. In an incredible testament to his longevity, Pat Jennings left Tottenham in 1977 with two Football League Cups, one FA Cup and one UEFA Cup.

6. Danny Blanchflower

Sticking with Northern Ireland professionals, Danny Blanchflower is the natural player to follow Pat Jennings. However, he did precede Jennings and in fact, left Tottenham the same season that Jennings joined.

Danny Blanchflower is a former Tottenham captain who played within the double-winning team of 1960-61. Blanchflower joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1954 and played for Tottenham over the course of a decade, making many great memories.

Danny Blanchflower lifted two FA Cups, the Football League First Division and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup as captain. He was a leader, both on and off the pitch. He both loved the beautiful game and encouraged those around him to fight for the badge too.

5. Dave Mackay

Winning over Tottenham due to his performances with the Scotland national team, Spurs were set on signing Dave Mackay from Hearts. So they did, in the year of 1959.

Mackay went on to spend nine years in the English capital. He was an absolute engine with incredible technical and physical attributes. His energy-levels were second to none and Jimmy Greaves once said: “Dave made us try twice as hard to keep up with him. He was only just over 5ft 7in tall, but with that barrel chest of his he had the impact of a giant.”

He was also part of the Tottenham side which won the double in 1961, as one of the key players. His honours list does not end here, as Mackay won three FA Cups, one First Division title and one European Cup Winners Cup.

4. Ledley King

One of the greatest examples of a one-club-man.

Ledley King is a Tottenham legend, through and through. Having established himself in the Tottenham academy, King was the centre-back of choice for many years.

King was a composed defender and exactly what you'd expect from a traditional English centre back. He was always in the right place at the right time and when he wasn't, his tenacious attitude allowed him to make up space. He was also no stranger to putting his body on the line.

It was great to see that towards the end of his career, King's loyalty to Tottenham was rewarded with the Football League Cup. He made over 250 Premier League appearances for Tottenham and even came back as an assistant coach for a brief time period.

3. Glenn Hoddle

Like Ledley King, Glenn Hoddle is another famous example of a Tottenham academy graduate. Hoddle made his first-team debut in 1975 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Glenn Hoddle was mostly known for his incredible technical ability. He had an exceptional first-touch and arguably a better range of passing. Oh, his haircuts made him stand out to many, too.

Glenn Hoddle eventually left Tottenham Hotspur in 1987 to sign for Monaco. He left Spurs with two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup. He also returned to Tottenham later down the line to manage.

2. Jimmy Greaves

Jimmy Greaves is one of the best strikers of all-time. He was tenacious in front of goal and had a knack of making goal-scoring opportunities from nothing. So, he is unfortunate to miss out on first place.

But, it's no discredit to Greaves. Having joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1961, Greaves scored an incredible 220 league goals in 321 Tottenham appearances.

Greaves began his career at Chelsea but he left a legacy as a Tottenham legend. He is held in high regard in English football, remaining the only English player to score six hat-tricks on international duty.

1. Harry Kane

Some traditional Tottenham fans might not like placing Harry Kane, who played more recently than other club legends, at the top of the all-time list. But, he is genuinely a contender for the best striker the Premier League has ever seen, so that has to count for something.

Harry Kane came through the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy. He made the switch from the red side of North London to the white side and he is now regarded "one of our own."

Harry Kane never lifted a trophy with Tottenham, which is quite remarkable given his incredible ability and world-class status. He is both Tottenham and England's all-time leading goal-scorer.
