Tottenham are believed to have signed Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest. However, the war is not over, Forest are furious right now.
Yesterday, Tottenham officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, but the transfer proceedings didn't end there. In fact, Tottenham fans were treated to a second helping almost immediately after Kudus was announced.
In quick succession, Tottenham became interested in Morgan Gibbs-White's situation, then pounced on him. It didn't take long at all for Fabrizio Romano to provide the rubber-stamped seal of approval with his "Here We Go" statement.
However, it's not going to be as simple as that.
Tottenham may have acted illegally to sign Morgan Gibbs-White
If something seems too good to be true, it often is.
While Tottenham may have pushed through a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White quicker than Usain Bolt sprinted 100 metres, there are now question marks about whether they did it legally.
According to a further update from Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest is preparing a complaint to the Premier League about Tottenham's actions in the transfer race. Further, Romano confirmed Sky Sports' claim that legal action may be taken if Forest deem Spurs to have acted illegally.
That, in more ways than one, is the last thing Tottenham want to be dealing with. With some motion finally happening in the transfer window, to have it halted so suddenly would be a big blow.
Fans shouldn't expect a quick Nottingham Forest resolution
Look, fans are often left in the dark about matters like this. Whenever there's a legal dispute ongoing, there's no telling what stage it's at. Journalists do their best to provide information, but they can only work with what they're given. In matters like this, it's breadcrumbs and marbels.
So, fans shouldn't expect a quick resolution. Neither should they expect a straightforward resolution (luckily, Tottenham fans are used to that).
Anyway, we won't let this disturb the transfer party bus. Seems like Daniel Levy has got his wallet out, so let's hope it stays out.
