It took them a few years, but Tottenham Hotspur are finally back in the Champions League. They have an incredibly tough league phase route this time, but Tottenham fans will be happy to be back in Europe’s topmost competition.

I mean, they would not have expected it to happen in the season after finishing 17th, but life is funny like that sometimes. They look good, though.

On the occasion, we wanted to discuss the top five scorers for Tottenham in Champions League history. They have not had many successful years in the competition, but they have gone deep into the knockout stages in the past, which is why it is good to open up this chapter once again.

Tottenham's all-time leading goal scorers in Champions League history

Christian Eriksen (5 goals)

He really was a baller in his prime, wasn’t he?

Eriksen has only scored seven Champions League goals in his career, but five of them were with the North London club. He scored twice in Tottenham’s return to the Champions League – including one against record winners Real Madrid – and then scored two more in their run to the Champions League final with Mauricio Pochettino.

Eriksen was never a true goalscorer, but the catalogue of goals that he boasts speaks volumes of his qualities as a footballer. He was a pass-first player all his Tottenham career, but was ridiculous from range if he wanted to have a pop.

Lucas Moura (6 goals)

It is tough to see past Moura when you talk about Spurs’ incredible final run in the 2018-19 season. I mean, the guy scored all but one of his Champions League goals for Spurs in that season alone. It was crazy to see the kind of levels he was hitting during matches. Felt spiritual, even from a neutral fan’s perspective.

He scored six goals in total for Spurs in the big-eared competition, but five of them were in that final run. Out of those five, three came within a few minutes of each other against Ajax in the semi-finals of the competition, etching himself in history as the bearer of one of the greatest Champions League hat-tricks of all time.

It is a shame Tottenham were never able to actually win the trophy with Lucas Moura. It is a pretty tough thing to do, but if there was one man who deserved it after an all-timer of a performance, then it was the Brazilian speedster.

Peter Crouch (7 goals)

Peter Crouch was not particularly a success at Tottenham. He only ended up scoring 12 and assisting 12 more in 73 Premier League appearances, but he did have some success in the Champions League.

It was still not the best move, but Crouch was actually really good for Spurs in the 2010-11 Champions League campaign, where they went as far as the quarter-finals, losing to a brilliant Real Madrid side.

Crouch played 10 games that season in the Champions League, and he actually scored three more goals in that competition than he did in the Premier League. He scored four in the Premier League, and seven in Europe, which was pretty crazy.

No matter how his stint at Tottenham went, at least he has the Champions League goals to boast about.

Scoring seven goals in Europe’s premier competition is not for everyone, but it certainly was for Crouchy.

Son Heung-Min (16 goals)

Son is currently the second top scorer for Spurs in the Champions League. It is a real shame that he had to leave the club before their unexpected return to the competition, but on the other hand, it is a beautiful script to see.

One of the club’s biggest ever legends leaving on a gargantuan high after finally winning a trophy. That is, for most, the perfect note to leave on.

And besides, he still has 16 goals to his name. 16 important goals, so many of which took Spurs out of bad situations in the Champions League. He scored four crucial ones in their final run in 2019, while scoring four and five in the season before and after, respectively.

It was honestly so much fun to see Son in his absolute prime. He was always one of the stars on the team, taking matters into his own hands. And, when he did, devastating pace followed.

Son could have had a few more, but being second best would make him content, knowing who is ahead of him.

Harry Kane (21 goals)

Son’s partner in crime, Harry Kane, has scored 21 goals for Spurs in the Champions League, and is the club’s top scorer in the competition. He is the only player on this list who is still playing in Europe, and the only player who is still one of the very best in world football.

It seems like he has hit another gear in terms of goals for Bayern Munich, but the way he used to carry Spurs out of dire situations was just beautiful to see. 21 goals to his name, 18 of which came in a three-year span where Spurs were cooking every single matchday.

Kane never won a trophy at Spurs, which is a shame, but both the club and the player himself would be happy knowing that both parties broke their curses in the same season. There is something wholesome about it.
