Tottenham Hotspur opened their UEFA Europa League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Qarabag despite early adversity. There is concern that Son Heung-min may have picked up an injury.

The Tottenham vs Qarabag, delayed by 35 minutes due to disruption, saw Ange Postecoglou's side reduced to ten men after Radu Dragusin was sent off in the 7th minute.

Ange responded by reshuffling the lineup, and within minutes, Solanke set up Johnson to give Spurs a 1-0 lead.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Tottenham dominated possession, and in the second half, Pape Matar Sarr doubled the lead, capitalising on a loose ball from a corner.

Qarabag had a chance to pull one back from the penalty spot, but Bayramov hit the bar. Solanke later sealed the victory with a third goal, following up on a weak parry from Qarabag’s goalkeeper.

While Spurs had moments of danger, including a disallowed goal for Qarabag, they maintained a clean sheet, their second of the season. The win provided a morale boost after a challenging start, and fans were thrilled to see youngster Mikey Moore feature late in the game.

Overall, Tottenham emerged victorious in a tough but rewarding match, securing three points in their European journey.

Is Tottenham captain Son Heung-min injured after Qarabag match?

In addition to Radu Dragusin's red card, another worrying incident is the potential injury to Son Heung-min. The Spurs captain was substituted in the 70th minute with apparent muscle discomfort.

So far, it hasn’t been confirmed if Son is actually injured or whether it’s anything serious. For now, there is only concern. However, it’s likely that Ange Postecoglou took a precautionary approach.

In fact, we were expecting a starting lineup full of substitutes and young players, but Ange surprisingly fielded several regular starters, including the team captain.

Logically, after securing the win, Postecoglou may have decided to avoid further risk to Son’s fitness by bringing him off. Though, of course, it could have been at Son's request, hinting at some physical discomfort.

We'll have to wait at least a few more hours for further updates on Son’s condition. Rest assured, we'll provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
