According to high-profile Spanish media outlet AS Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon.

However, per the same report - they will face competition from fierce rivals Galatasaray. Interest from Barcelona and Sevilla was reported earlier in the window.

The talk is that Reguilon is desperate to depart Spurs this summer, bringing an end to his four-year stint at the club after Mourinho himself brought him to the club back in lockdown.

One would imagine this feeling is reciprocated by Spurs themselves, who will see this as a final opportunity to cash in on an unwanted player with one year left on their existing contract. Any funds could go towards the new attacker the club wants. They could even take a loan with full wages paid to free up the wage bill.

Spurs have been in a desperate situation at left-back in the absence of Destiny Udogie this pre-season, and the fact the idea of giving Reguilon a go never crossed anybody's mind shows that his Tottenham career is all but over.

Former Spurs manager wants to reunite with Tottenham defender

It is not the first time that Jose Mourinho has tried to create a Tottenham Hotspur reunion at Fenerbahce, with the Portuguese manager reportedly trying to bring Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to Istanbul earlier in the summer, but to no avail, as the Danish midfielder opted for Marseille instead.

Fenerbahce's current left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu, who impressed at the Euros - is heavily linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion, and wasn't in the squad for their Champions League qualifier against Lille - should that move happen then perhaps a deal for Reguilon could accelerate.

The aforementioned game against Lille saw Fenerbahce drop down into the Europa League, which could have financial repercussions for the Turkish club. Therefore, the potential sale of Kadioglu may be necessary to fund a deal - should it [Reguilon] be one made on a permanent basis.

Whatever happens, it is clear that Reguilon has played his last game in a Spurs jersey.
