Mourinho to reunite with Tottenham midfielder?
By Tom Vinall
Per Turkish news outlet Yeni Güzele Gazetesi, former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho wants to bring Pierre-Emile Højbjerg with him to Fenerbahce.
Mourinho signed Højbjerg in the summer of 2020 for a reported fee of around £15m (Transfermarkt).
He was an ever-present in his first season at the club and started 36 league games the following season.
Gametime hasn’t come quite so easy since then, but the Danish midfielder has still played 145 league games in just four seasons at Spurs (Wikipedia).
It is expected that Højbjerg will depart Spurs this summer in any case, with Ange trying to build his own squad that can carry out his ideas to the highest possible standard.
So, even if nothing comes of these links to Fenerbahce, it doesn’t mean that he will be staying in North London.

Mourinho to reunite with Tottenham midfielder?
Per Transfermarkt, the Spurs midfielder only has one year to run on his current contract, so there is every chance that the Turkish giants will be able to afford his services.
Spurs will try to recoup the aforementioned £12m they signed Højbjerg for, but with his contract situation and him now being 29 years old, they may have to make do with slightly less.
Fenerbahce, and other clubs that may be interested in a deal, may well want to wait until Denmark’s European Championship campaign ends, in case of any potential injuries sustained by Højbjerg during the tournament.
Either way, we will have to see how this story develops over the coming weeks and possibly longer.
