Tottenham’s form in the Premier League has not been good since mid-October but Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t think things are that bad.

A loss to AS Monaco on Tuesday in the Champions League, which preceded Saturday’s loss to Chelsea, meant that Tottenham would end the month of November with a losing record.

Spurs began November with a loss to Bayer Leverkusen and ended their fifth and final game before December comes with a loss as well. It could be argued that the north London club’s form is at an all-time low during Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure after these past 11 games.

With Tottenham four points behind their archrivals Arsenal and seven points from league leaders Chelsea, the time to get back to winning ways should be now with the halfway point of the season coming up next month.

But according to Pochettino, he believes that everyone should calm down.

Yes, things are not looking good at the moment but the Argentine manager does have a point. Saturday’s fixture at Stamford Bridge was only the 13th match played in a 38-game season. Only a third of the entire season has been played.

There’s still plenty of time to turn things around, no need to panic just yet.

“We need to be calm,” Pochettino said (via Spurs’ official site). “It’s true we’re out of the Champions League and that was tough. But the way we’re competing, it’s one defeat after 13 games and we’re in a good position in the Premier League.”

“Why be worried? I think we sometimes make problems bigger. We need to stay calm because the answer of the team was fantastic today.”

Indeed, after being eliminated from the Champions League, Spurs had every reason to start yesterday’s match against Chelsea very sluggish. After all, they worked very hard to get into Europe’s elite club competition.

To get knocked out in five games and lose three times, the club’s confidence should have been very low. But, they battled from the very start at Stamford Bridge for 44 minutes. They just couldn’t continue that for the next 45 minutes before losing 2-1.

A loss is what everyone will remember, but for Pochettino he saw a good performance. The final result is the only disappointment from the 44-year-old’s point of view.

“If you analyse the whole game, I think we deserve more.” Mauricio Pochettino continued.

“That is football. It is difficult to explain, you are better and yet you lose 2-1. It’s about scoring or not scoring goals. We feel proud about the performance and the players. It was a good performance.”

“It’s always hard when you play against Chelsea at Chelsea, they’ve had a clear week to prepare, they are in good form, but the way we played, how we showed character, how we competed was fantastic, something to be proud about.”

“I feel disappointed only about the result, for the rest we need to feel pleased and proud of the effort of the players.”

“I was pleased with how we competed, how we started the game, it’s normal to have periods in the game here at Chelsea that are difficult because they push, they are a very good team with good players. We can only look forward, to be better and now we have a week to work hard and try to win the game against Swansea.”

Having a week to prepare for Swansea City has come at a good time.

Coming off of back-to-back losses, even if Mauricio Pochettino has said that they’re competing very well, Tottenham needs some time to re-assess themselves.

With Bob Bradley getting the most of the Swans, this latest meeting between the two sides — a difficult fixture for the past couple of seasons — could be yet another turning point for Spurs.

While the Swans have struggled on the road this year in the Premier League losing four times, no game is easy in the league. Not only that, but teams that Spurs should have beat handily (Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Middlesbrough) proved otherwise.

That is to say, Spurs will be in a battle at White Hart Lane on December 3rd.
