Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the transfer rumour mill protagonists before the official opening of the summer window.
The club is out to make up for lost time, and ensure Roberto De Zerbi has a squad at his disposal capable of competing towards the top of the Premier League table again. The existential threat of relegation lingered in N17 for far too long last season, and such angst cannot be experienced in this part of the world again.
Spurs must believe they have the right man to lead us into a prosperous new dawn, with De Zerbi working a minor miracle to keep us in the top flight. His broken squad united down the stretch, and now's the time for the Italian to instal fresher and sturdier foundations.
His defence will soon be fully revamped, and there's an intent to sign a midfield passer, too. In attack, Spurs have gone back in for an old flame, having missed out on signing Savinho last summer. The Brazilian is the priority target to bolster our wide positions, but a recent report suggests the deal may not be progressing as smoothly as others have let on.
Conflicting report emerges on Tottenham's Savinho pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has been all over this potential deal, reporting that talks are moving forward between the two clubs. He's been reposting previous tweets regarding the situation, suggesting that something is imminent.
However, Manchester football correspondent Jamie Jackson isn't quite so bullish on Spurs' chances to land Savinho. In fact, he says that City haven't even engaged in talks with the Lilywhites for the Brazilian's services.
There hasn't been much movement from the likes of Fabrizio over the past 48 hours after several outlets had suggested that Spurs were edging closer to striking a £60m deal with the Cityzens.
So, who do we believe, eh?
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm so enveloped by World Cup fever to care. The start of the tournament is just around the corner, so why don't we all spend our time consuming details of Iraq's stubborn low block, rather than relentlessly refreshing our social media timelines in the hope of a tenuous transfer update.
Savinho at least won't be at the World Cup, so Spurs, if we're believing Fabrizio, shouldn't be hindered too much by the tournament if they want to land the winger long before the start of De Zerbi's first pre-season.
