Roberto De Zerbi has brought renewed hope to Tottenham Hotspur, giving them dreams of building themselves back into something more than a club that survives relegation. And their Premier League survival was honestly largely down to the new manager coming in and getting more fire out of the veteran players and getting this club to finally believe in itself again.
Now, Spurs are hoping that De Zerbi's infectious uplifting of the organization can yield pull on the transfer market. Tottenham were able to land two big fish last summer transfer window between Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons, but they were unable to bring in anyone else on the wings or at striker, nor were they able to sign a bigger fish than Conor Gallagher in the winter.
For years, Tottenham have been unable to hang with the very best teams in world football on the transfer market. Desire Doue, Rayan Cherki, and Antoine Semenyo are two recent examples of high profile players who have gone on to be superstars but who Tottenham were unable to bring in.
Tottenham are after a big fish in the Premier League
Last summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur pushed hard for Savinho, but they were unable to bring the Man City star in. This year, they will be back after the Brazilian international, and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tottenham are ready to reopen negotiations. Roberto De Zerbi is on board and wants him, and Savinho, better yet, is reportedly open to joining Spurs despite the lack of European football.
Savinho, an exciting player who was once one of La Liga's best at Girona, can play on either wing and is a proven Premier League talent who can bring that same one on one game breaking ability that Mohammed Kudus does on the right. He is not a perfect young player, but Savinho has that skill and explosiveness that Spurs could use.
De Zerbi being on board with Savinho is great news for Tottenham fans and means that the club can go after their biggest dream target of the last summer transfer window with a renewed vigor. He is one of the few great players Spurs could realistically land, and if he is interested in joining them without a worry about European football next season, that is further indication Spurs should be all over him.
An all or nothing kind of guy, De Zerbi ail about getting individually gifted players who are all in on his ideas, which is why he loves Xavi Simons and Micky van de Ven, for example. Savinho is another high profile player, and Spurs are going to hit the gas pedal for him.
