Tottenham just slapped Mathys Tel in the face again

Are you kidding?

Time and time again, Tottenham Hotspur have let Mathys Tel down this season, even though he has been, by far, the team's best left winger and probably the second best attacking player overall behind new signing Mohammed Kudus.

Tel has been left out of the starting lineup repeatedly by manager Thomas Frank, who, quite frankly, should have been fired by now. And not once but twice now, the Spurs coach has literally pulled Tel from the Champions League squad, dropping him out of contention despite there being clearly inferior options within the squad.

All the while in January, Tel has been pushing for a transfer out of Tottenham, as he wants to spread his wings for six months on loan so that he can actually get consistent playing time. Tel is wasting key developmental years on the bench of a team he is giving his blood, sweat, and tears to - and the same cannot be said about the effort of his manager and even some of his teammates.

Tottenham look like fools again

Well, Tottenham risk making the Mathys Tel situation even worse, and at this rate, a loan move away from Tottenham is not what should worry the club; even Spurs diehards would not fault Tel if he eventually wants a permanent transfer out because of how badly he has been treated.

In the latest cruel transfer twist, Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in yet another West Ham United player in left winger Crysencio Summerville, who is reportedly valued by the Hammers at 25 million pounds.

Signed from the Championship, Summerville has shown some flashes for West Ham, but, by and large, he's been pretty poor for the side. He looked good by comparison against Tottenham, but that's because Pedro Porro's woeful one on one defending gifted the Dutchman a free shot at goal.

No disrespect to Summerville, but he is not better than Tel now and has half of his future upside. Kudus was a great signing and by far West Ham's most talented player from the 2024/25 season, but if Spurs start to sign a whole bunch of players from West Ham who are not good enough for a relegation side, they could soon become the next West Ham - after all, they already just lost to them.

It is a huge slap in the face to Tel that instead of playing him regularly, they now want to waste their time and potentially money on a worse player in Summerville. This transfer inquiry has Johan Lange written all over it, furthering the feeling Tottenham fans have that Lange is the most pathetic excuse for a sporting executive in European football.
