Tottenham may be set to turn their attention to a new target as they look to upgrade their attacking options this summer. Roberto De Zerbi is expected to be give at least a handful of new signings as he looks to transform this struggling Spurs side.

Significant squad change is going to be required to get this team fighting for Europe next season, and it's clear Spurs need more on the attacking side of the game.

Spurs identify new striker option

Tottenham clearly need a new frontman, with Randal Kolo Muani headed back to PSG, while Dominic Solanke hasn't lived up to his price tag, struggling to stay fit consistently.

You could certainly make the case that Spurs might need two strikers this summer, and that will certainly be the case if Richarlison leaves the club.

So, it makes sense that Spurs are sounding out striker options, but they are also considering attacking players in other positions, and one of them is said to be Napoli's Antonio Vergara.

According to CalcioNapoli24, Spurs and Como are monitoring the 24-year-old this summer. The attacking midfielder could be available for just £26million, which is what may have attracted Tottenham in the first place.

The 23-year-old managed three goals and four assists in 19 appearances across all competitions last season. Napoli clearly aren't convinced, though, and they are said to be willing to sell, leading to a formal approach from Como.

Spurs will have to act quickly if they want to make the most of the opportunity, but they wil need to question whether then need another attacking midfielder, even if Vergara can also play on the wing.

Spurs need to move on

De Zerbi will have James Maddison has his starter in attacking midfield, while Lucas Bergval is also an opion, and Xavi Simons is also a player who will see plenty of action at the position when he returns from his long injury layoff.

Spurs need to be efficient with their spending this summer and improve areas they can clearly upgrade on. Getting Maddison back to full fitness will be like a new signing in itself, and by the time the winter comes, Simons's return will feel very similar.

Attacking midifled is actually one of the few areas of the pitch Tottenham are well-stocked in, so De Zerbi should look elsewhere, even with this proposed bargain seemingly serving as an intriguing transfer opportunity. Thank you, next.
