Manor Solomon and his agent have made it abundantly clear that they want out of Tottenham Hotspur, and given how he has had no path to playing time at the club in meaningful matches, the feeling is very much mutual.
The problem for Spurs is finding a landing spot for Solomon, who had a good run in the EFL Championship but is clearly not the caliber of winger for the Premier League. Former Tottenham executive Fabio Paratici surprisingly handed him a lifeline in the winter in the form of a brief loan spell at Fiorentina when the Viola were staring down their own relegation fight, which came after Villarreal terminated his loan after their own surprising plunge for the Israeli international.
Solomon has been getting quite a hefty dose of a minutes, and he has now been involved in two goals, though the rest of his play has been very underwhelming. For a guy who is supposed to be auditioning for a transfer or at least pretending to fight for minutes at Tottenham Hotspur, Solomon comes off very lazy in terms of tracking back and seems to know he does not have the quality to take defenders on with how many sideways passes he attempts.
Manor Solomon is more useful on the market than in the squad
On paper, Manor Solomon looks like he is having a great offseason. He has two goal involvements for Spurs and is getting more playing time than most of the other forwards. But for Tottenham, that is all on the paper, and Spurs want him to look good on paper, perhaps even fooling other clubs into thinking he is somewhat important to their plans, so they have some leverage and can generate some interest in a sale this summer.
Tottenham fans need to remember not to fall for the mirage here. Solomon is basically padding his stats at this point, and even when he does play against inferior competition, he still does not have the skill or verve out wide to be a rotational winger for Tottenham
Remember, Spurs are after two more winger signings this summer for Roberto De Zerbi, and Solomon isn't even better than what they have. When everyone at Tottenham is healthy, all of Mathys Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, and Wilson Odobert are going to be ahead of him in the pecking order. And that is not even accounting for potentially Savinho and Cody Gakpo - or someone else - and Spurs would not want to give Solomon a chance over Mikey Moore if it came to that either.
