Tottenham Hotspur have been trying to find a permanent solution for Manor Solomon for over a year. It is obvious to anyone who has watched him play for Spurs or any other club that he is not a Premier League left winger and is a Championship level player who performed well for Leeds United but did not thrive, to the point where Leeds, despite his own pining, did not seriously consider signing him permanently when they realized they were headed to the Premier League and graduated from the need to keep him.
Solomon then went out on loan to Villarreal with no Premier League club seriously interested in him at at the deadline, and he performed so poorly for one of La Liga's best clubs that they terminated his loan - and supporters disliked his lack of effort and quality, viewing even his loan signing as a monumental flop.
So Tottenham can only hope that their former controversial executive Fabio Paratici buys Solomon permanently for 10 million euros, because he did at least somewhat help Fiorentina stay up in Serie A, beating up on the worst teams in what is now the weakest of Europe's top five leagues.
Manor Solomon's Tottenham chapter is long closed
From a Tottenham Hotspur perspective, Manor Solomon's chapter at the club is over, and instead of behaving professionally or taking some accountability for his own deficiencies as a left winger, which is the most quality demanding position in world football, Solomon is still bad mouthing his parent club and doing everything he can to falsely disparage Spurs.
A year later and with Daniel Levy long gone, Solomon decided to hit out at the former Chairman and at Spurs for not selling him to Crystal Palace. He said, via Football.London's Alasdair Gold, “I was done from that day on. The transfer window is over, I didn't want to stay at Tottenham. I was offended by them. When you feel like you're being pushed out, you don't want to stay in a place like this"
He also said, "I went through a lot of things with them that disappointed me. On the other hand, people change. Daniel Levy, who didn't agree with Palace, left the day after. It still tickles me that I didn't have the opportunity to succeed at Tottenham because I'm sure I could have done it."
Tottenham Hotspur supporters will be playing the world's smallest violin for Solomon. This is a player who has never scored more than four league goals in a top flight season in the Premier League. He has interesting tools and isn't a terrible player, but he is not a Premier League caliber winger. Every club has told him that, and it is doubtful Crystal Palace were really that interested in him; the deal probably fell apart because they did not want him, just like Spurs and Villarreal did not want him.
Instead of attacking Spurs in public, Solomon should accept his level, work hard to better his game, and focus on himself. These quotes show the attitude and mentality of a player who thinks he is entitled to opportunities he has not earned and will blame everyone else instead of facing the truth. But Spurs fans already knew that from how he played and how he behaved at their club.
