Tottenham’s long wait for a major trophy has been a source of frustration for supporters.
For seasoned veterans, Heung-Min Son and Ben Davies, the upcoming clash at Anfield represents another opportunity to break the club’s silverware drought.
The two Spurs stalwarts have been at the heart of the club’s journey for the past decade, witnessing plenty of highs and lows.
Yet, despite multiple semi-final appearances, they are still searching for their first trophy in North London.
For now, Tottenham have focused their attention on the squad’s absences, including the loss of Micky van de Ven, who will be unavailable for the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Meanwhile, the club’s recent pursuit of Mathys Tel has also made headlines. Despite rumours suggesting that Tel had turned down the Spurs, the manager himself dismissed those claims.
As Tottenham prepare to take on Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, all eyes will be on Son and Davies to lead a squad heavily impacted by injuries.

With key players sidelined, Tottenham’s reliance on younger talents has grown, making the leadership of experienced figures like Son and Davies more crucial than ever.
Manager Ange Postecoglou is well aware of their importance, acknowledging their drive to bring success to the club.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Postecoglou said to Football London: "Sonny’s been outstanding for us. I’ve said before with Sonny, the extremes we’ve had to put on him this year, it’d be tough for anyone to carry the load he has both from a physical perspective, a mental perspective."
He also praised Davies, highlighting how the Welsh defender has stepped up in recent weeks. "Ben Davies is another one who’s really stepped up in recent times.
"Two guys who have been at this club for a long time and understand what success will do for this club."
Son’s season has been a mix of challenges and quality performances. Despite concerns over fatigue, the Spurs captain has still delivered 10 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.
Spurs’ trophy drought and the pressure to deliver
Tottenham last lifted a major trophy in 2008, a statistic that looms over every opportunity they get to compete for silverware.
However, Postecoglou insists that neither Son nor Davies feel burdened by this history.
"I don’t sense with Sonny in particular or with Ben that there’s any burden on them or they feel like we’re going to fall short or there’s something missing. They’re as optimistic as anyone," the Spurs boss stated.
The road to Wembley is never easy, and a tough test awaits against Liverpool.
