Tottenham Hotspur’s injury woes have taken another harsh turn with the news that Radu Dragusin will be sidelined for an extended period.

The 22-year-old defender sustained a serious injury during Tottenham's Europa League match against IF Elfsborg.

His ACL injury is expected to require surgery, and the club has confirmed that Dragusin will be out for an indefinite period, with no clear return date as of now.

The loss of Radu Dragusin comes at a time when Tottenham are already grappling with multiple injuries in their defence.

Radu Dragusin’s ACL injury was sustained after an awkward landing during the Europa League match against Elfsborg.

The Romanian international has been a crucial part of Spurs’ defensive setup this season, especially when key players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were unavailable.

Despite dealing with his own injury issues, including an ankle knock and a head wound that required stitches, Dragusin has been a reliable presence on the pitch, logging over 2,179 minutes across 28 appearances.

The club’s official statement confirmed that Dragusin is set to undergo surgery, though no precise recovery timeline has been given.

With the defender out for the foreseeable future, Tottenham’s depth at centre-back has become an even more pressing issue.

Tottenham were already in the market for defensive reinforcements in the winter transfer window, but Dragusin’s long-term absence has intensified the need for additional signings.

Teammates express their support for Radu Dragusin

As Dragusin faces a lengthy recovery, his teammates have rallied around him, showing their solidarity on social media.

James Maddison, who is recovering from his own injury, posted a message on Instagram stating, "Be with you every step of the way brother."

Similarly, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, also sidelined, expressed his support, writing, "Family’s here to support you, brother."

With ACL injuries typically requiring six to eight months of recovery, it’s highly unlikely that Dragusin will feature again this season.

This poses a significant challenge for Tottenham, as the club now faces a critical period in their campaign.

While Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Ben Davies are available, the potential for further injuries in the defensive line raises legitimate concerns for Spurs' ability to cope.

The news of Dragusin’s injury has highlighted Tottenham’s vulnerability at the back, and it’s clear that manager Ange Postecoglou will need to act fast in securing the necessary reinforcements to maintain their season’s ambitions.
