Spurs winger on 25 man shortlist for golden boy award

Tottenham Hotspur winger, Wilson Odobert, has been named on the final 25-man shortlist for the 2024 golden boy award, joining some seriously elite company in doing so.
The 19-year old joins; Lamine Yamal of Barcelona Joao Neves of Paris Saint Germain, Arda Guler and Endrick of Real Madrid, Savio of Manchester City, and a number of other top talents, including rumoured Spurs target Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund.
It has been a frustrating time for Odobert since joining the club so far, with initial game time for club and country looking promising, before an injury sustained in the win away to Coventry City in the Carabao Cup keeping him up for a month and counting.
With the injury Heung-Min Son picked up in the win over Qarabag in the Europa League, there is very little doubt in the mind of anybody that the Frenchman wouldn’t have got even more game time on that left hand side of the attack, with that part of the front line being seen as the main weakness in the side.
Unfortunately for Odobert, Son has returned to full training this week and is in contention for the game against West Ham United at the weekend. That too, and that Brennan Johnson is on the form of his life. When the 19-year old picked up the injury, it was right in the heat of a difficult period for the Welshman, but his run of form that has seen him score seven goals in seven games, in fact started that very night against Coventry City.
However, there are a hell of a lot of games to be played this season, and for Spurs to have that sort of depth is very exciting and encouraging.
With the aforementioned names listed, it is highly improbable that Odobert wins this award, but even to be named among players that lit up the European Championships, as well as their domestic leagues, show what kind of company the young Tottenham Hotspur winger is in, and the fact he was even nominated in such an exciting era for young talent, is a huge compliment in itself.
More good news is that Ange Postecoglu has said he is on the brink of being back available. When asked by Ben Haines for an injury update, Ange finished his answer with: "It's only really Wilson [that will not be available for West Ham], who has also done some good work last couple of weeks, and hopefully [he] joins the main group [for training] some point next week."
