On Saturday afternoon, there was a full docket of League One action, having only seen two games last weekend as a result of the October international break.

All three of Tottenham Hotspur’s loanees were without a game as a result, but were back in action today. Matthew Craig and Barnsley faced a trip to Blackpool, whilst Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, and Leyton Orient, were on the road to Northampton Town.

For the first league game since he joined Barnsley, Craig was named amongst the substitutes by manager Darrell Clarke for the game against Blackpool. Midway through the second half, he was introduced to the action, replacing Jon Russell at the base of their midfield.

It was unfortunate timing, as Blackpool scored to equalise one minute later, with Barnsley having lead since the 27th minute. It was to be the perfect ending, however, as defender Marc Roberts scored two minutes into stoppage time, to ensure Barnsley would be taking all three points back with them to South Yorkshire with a 2-1 win.

This win leaves the Tykes 8th in the League One table, outside the top six on goal difference, having picked up 18 points from their 11 games so far.

As for Orient – Josh Keeley was afford his League One debut for this game, having previously only featured in the Carabao Cup tie away to Brentford. It had been a tough time for Keeley, having frequently not even made the matchday squad, and losing his starting spot for the Republic of Ireland U21s over the most recent international break.

He would not be joined in the starting XI by fellow Spurs youngster Jamie Donley, however, who was named among those on the bench. He would come on for Jordan Brown, after 62 minutes.

It was not to be of much use, however, as Donley failed to make much of an impact on the game, with Cameron McGeehan’s goal just after half-time giving their hosts all three points.

This defeat keeps Orient only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, although they have a game in hand on Shrewsbury, the side immediately below them. Richie Wellens’ side have eight points from eleven games, as they saw Northampton overtake them with this win today.

There is a full midweek slate in League One this coming midweek. Barnsley are in action at home to Charlton Athletic, whilst Orient host Rotherham. Both games are on Tuesday night, with 19:45 BST kick offs.
