The third round of the Carabao Cup commenced on Tuesday night, with Spurs playing against Coventry City tomorrow night. There were plenty of out-on-loan Spurs players in action on Tuesday, so let's see how they got on.

Find out how Spurs' own got on in the Carabao Cup

To begin, Ashley Phillips was back in the lineup for Stoke City's first game since sacking Steven Schumacher on Monday, as Stoke legend and fellow centre-back Ryan Shawcross took the side for this game on an interim basis - as they welcomed Fleetwood Town and fellow former Stoke player Charlie Adam to Stoke.

Sadly, the central defender only lasted 40 minutes before being forced off with an injury. Phillips was having a good game before the injury, making two clearances, blocking one shot, and making two interceptions in his 40 minutes on the field. In better news, Stoke advanced to the quarter-finals on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Further North, Matthew Craig came on as a half-time substitute for Barnsley as they cruelly lost 7-0 to a strong Manchester United side, as their Carabao Cup run came to an end.

Down in London, Josh Keeley made his first start for Leyton Orient in their tie away to Premier League Brentford, making five saves during the game to go with it. Jamie Donley also started the game, playing 72 minutes, as the O's respectfully fell to a 3-1 defeat to a fairly strong Brentford XI.

So, unfortunately, Phillips was the only on-loan Spurs player to advance to the fourth round, but there can now be full focus on the league seasons for those who have been knocked out. The draw for the next round takes place as far away as next Wednesday, the 25th of September - due to the exaggerated nature of the third round, which takes place over a two week period. The draw will take place after Liverpool play West Ham United.

The draw will be a little after 22:00 BST, 17:00 ET. Though do note, it would be later should the aforementioned tie between Liverpool and West Ham go to a penalty shootout.

Let's hope Spurs can get a positive result tomorrow night and be in the draw.
