Tottenham predicted starting XI vs Coventry: Ange to make rotations
By Manuel Meza
Tottenham Hotspur head into their EFL Cup Third Round clash against Coventry City with Ange Postecoglou under increasing pressure to turn things around. Spurs have managed just one win so far this season, and following back-to-back defeats to Newcastle and Arsenal, the North London club desperately needs a positive result to lift spirits.
The EFL Cup provides an opportunity for Postecoglou to steady the ship and possibly secure his first trophy at the club, a point the Australian manager will be keen to emphasise as his side travel to the Midlands on Wednesday night.
Given the congested fixture list and the need to rotate, Postecoglou is likely to make several changes to his starting XI for this cup tie. Starting in goal, Fraser Forster could be handed a rare opportunity to impress, allowing first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario a rest. Forster’s experience and composure between the sticks should provide a solid foundation against a Coventry side known for their threat on the counter.

In defence, Pedro Porro is expected to slot in at right-back, with Cristian Romero taking the central defensive role alongside Radu Dragusin. The latter, a young prospect, could be given a chance to showcase his abilities in the heart of the defence. Ben Davies, with his leadership and versatility, is likely to fill in at left-back, offering stability and some attacking intent from the flanks.
In midfield, James Maddison may be rested, paving the way for a more youthful setup. Teenage sensation Archie Gray could start alongside Sarr, whose energy and box-to-box capabilities will be crucial in maintaining control in the middle of the park. Bergvall, another young talent, could be handed a role in midfield, bringing creativity and dynamism to the team.
Up front, Tottenham could opt for a mix of youth and experience. Werner, who has impressed in recent appearances, is likely to start on the left wing, while Odobert, another exciting talent, could be deployed on the opposite side. Leading the line could be Dominic Solanke, whose physicality and link-up play could prove useful in breaking down a resolute Coventry defence.
Predicted Tottenham lineup vs Coventry: Forster; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Davies; Gray, Sarr, Bergvall; Werner, Odobert, Solanke.
