As per media outlet GiveMeSport, young Spurs midfielder Archie Gray is in line to start for Spurs in their Carabao Cup third-round clash with Championship side Coventry City on Wednesday night.

They say that Ange Postecoglu is "poised to make some changes" to the starting lineup that lost to Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday.

Gray has been limited to just 29 minutes of action for Spurs this season and was an unused sub in each of the last two outings. His only start this season was for England U21s in their draw to Northern Ireland in Euro 2025 qualifying earlier this month, where he played as a right-wing back.

They further state that Ange sees throwing Gray into the XI for this game as a "low-risk strategy" considering it is a Championship opponent, a level that the young midfielder has a full season experience at from last season.

Furthermore, Gray's versatility is mentioned, pointing out that the 18-year-old played several games as a right-back last season, which could play into his hands. They certainly raise a good point - Emerson Royal was sold to AC Milan in the summer, and while Djed Spence is at the club, he has also not been fancied for many minutes this season - so we could see Gray slot in on the right side of defence to give Porro a rest.

Ideally, it would have been quite cool to see Spence at right-back, and Gray in midfield, and perhaps it will be that - but beggars can't be choosers and however it happens, it would be great to see Gray in the starting XI.

Later on in the report, GiveMeSport suggests that whilst Gray (and Bergvall) are poised to come in, Ange is not planning wholesale changes to the side on Wednesday night, with the defeat to Arsenal putting more pressure on his shoulders.

That does check out, and a result is certainly even more needed than it was before Sunday. Ange banged the "I always win things in my second season" drum after the defeat to Arsenal, so it would make sense for him to play a strong team on Wednesday night.

Let's all hope we see both the aforementioned players start on Wednesday night with a Spurs victory.
