On Saturday evening, received his first international call up since March, Pedro Porro was named in the starting XI for his return to national duty, as a result of Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal rupturing his ACL in their recent La Liga clash at home to Villarreal. Spain were facing Denmark at home in the nations league for this one.

Porro started in a back four, along with Daniel Vivian, Aymeric Laporte, and Alejandro Grimaldo. He had worldwide sensation Lamine Yamal in front of him on the right flank.

It was an impressive first half from the Spurs defender, creating a big chance for Yamal, who was unfortunately not able to convert. Porro had 52 touches altogether in the first half, as Spain looked to dominate the ball completely.

Spain would continue dominate the game, creating guilt edged chance after guilt edged chance, and would finally be rewarded when Martin Zubimendi gave them the lead with just over ten minutes of the game remaining.

That goal would be enough to secure all three points, as Porro celebrated his first game back with a win and a clean sheet - playing the 90 minutes. It was an impressive performance from the 25-year old, who recorded; four tackles, two interceptions, one clearance, 0 times dribbled past, 110 touches, 67/76 accurate passes, 3/3 long balls, one big chance created, 2/3 aerial duels won, and two shots in a very all round display.

Those defensive stats really show just how much the Spurs man has come on defensively. It would have been very hard to see him being this capable in a back four in the early parts of his career in North London. Long may it continue.

This win leaves Spain top of their nations league group, with seven points - one point above tonight's opponents Denmark. Next up is another nations league game, as they host Serbia on Tuesday night, with a 19:45 BST kick off for that one.
