Tottenham Hotspur have a lot invested in their new signings, but the one who may have the most important role to play in the 2026/27 Premier League season is Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian international is on loan with an obligation to buy for 60 million pounds, and so Tottenham are hoping he can prove he is worth that money by the end of the season.
More importantly, Tottenham need the goals. Their leading scorer last season, Richarlison, only had 11, and he was frozen out of the squad, essentially, by not accepting a transfer to Everton and then having the Trabzonspor deal fall apart after the Premier League window closed.
Marmoush looked good in terms of his activity and chance creation in his debut during the 2-0 loss to Newcastle United, but he was terrible the following weekend against Nottingham Forest in a 0-0 draw, squandering a lot of great chances while failing to provide the same all around quality that he flashed up top against Newcastle.

After the game, Roberto De Zerbi had kind words for his new starting center forward, but he also set a bare minimum mark for how many goals he expects the signing from Manchester City to net for the Lilywhites in the 2026/27 Premier League season.
De Zerbi said of Marmoush, via The Spurs Watch, "But I love these players. I spoke now about Marmoush. But Marmoush, we have to analyse if he has, or not, 15, 12 goals. I think, yes, because he has all the qualities, enough to score that number of goals. He has to improve, of course.”
Honestly, if Omar Marmoush isn't hitting 12 goals this season, Tottenham Hotspur fans are going to wonder either why Spurs agreed to pay 60 million pounds for a player with no resale value in the first place or why Roberto De Zerbi could not get more out of the signing he badly wanted to transform the attack, knowing that goals were the paramount problem Spurs suffered last season as a team. After all, you can't get out of the relegation zone if you can't put the ball in the back of the net.
But it's been only two games, and one of those games from Marmoush was very good. Plus, Marmoush has been hurt since Savio and Mohammed Kudus are not 100 percent fully fit, while the shoulder dislocation to James Maddison has left Spurs without a real No. 10.
