Tottenham Hotspur have sealed the deal for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush to be their new solution at center forward, and, better yet, they do not have to commit to anything yet, as the deal is a loan with a potential obligation to buy for 50 million pounds if certain conditions are met.
Man City spent 60 million pounds initially to buy Marmoush in 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt after an incredible breakout, and they are now potentially selling him for less than what they bought for at the time when the market is favoring bigger transfers. Now, the caveat here is City actually got Marmoush cheaper because they included a sell on fee to Frankfurt, and to avoid paying as high of a sell on fee now, they are splitting more money in the Savinho sale to Tottenham so the Marmoush price looks cheaper.
But it is fair to say that Marmoush heads to North London with a lot of untapped quality in the Premier League. Marmoush had an insane average of 1.50 goals and assists per 90 minutes in his final half season in Frankfurt before moving to Manchester, and last season, despite barely playing, he was still one of the most efficient forwards in the Premier League with 0.77 goals and assists per 90 minutes.
Tottenham need to build the attack around Omar Marmoush
Omar Marmoush is a player who once single handedly led Eintracht Frankfurt one vs. essentially eleven against Bayern Munich. What Tottenham Hotspur and Roberto De Zerbi have to realize after making this transfer for a potentially world class 27 year old forward from the most successful club in England is that if they want Marmoush to be one of the best in the league, they need to build the team around him.
Man City already had Erling Haaland up top and a lot invested in other forwards like Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki - not to mention the fact that they bought Antoine Semenyo in the winter and already had Phil Foden in midfield.
Tottenham have a bunch of Robins but no Batman. Marmoush can be the main man with Mohammed Kudus, Savinho, James Maddison, Mateus Fernandes, and the others supporting him. The only other player who likes to have things built around him is Xavi Simons, but not only is he injured right now with a torn ACL, but he is more of a playmaking midfielder who likes to boss having the share of the ball at his feet, not necessarily the shots and the scoring opportunities.
If Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham start Marmoush every game at center forward and give him the freedom to roam off the ball and attack on it, his confidence will grow, and the highly skilled scorer and assist provider we all saw in Frankfurt will blossom in London.
