According to reports, Tottenham are now leading the race to sign a Spanish winger amid interest from a big club in La Liga.

Tottenham Hotspur are emerging as strong favourites to secure the signature of Javi Puado, one of La Liga’s most exciting wingers, in the upcoming transfer window.

With his current contract at Espanyol set to expire at the end of the season, Spurs could find themselves in a prime position to land the talented 26-year-old.

Puado has made a notable impact in Spain, netting three goals in just eight appearances from the left wing this season.

His impressive performances have attracted the attention of several clubs, with Tottenham now reportedly at the forefront of the race to sign him.

According to a recent report from Spanish outlet AS (h/t Sport Witness), both Tottenham and Sevilla are on high alert regarding Puado's contract situation.

While Espanyol are eager to extend his deal, the uncertainty surrounding the player’s intentions has left the club vulnerable.

If a move were to materialise, Espanyol would struggle to prevent him from leaving, given their limited financial resources.

Tottenham have been actively scouting a variety of wingers as they seek to bolster their squad in January and beyond.

With the underwhelming performances of Timo Werner, and the realisation that Dejan Kulusevski is better suited in a central role, the need for an effective winger has never been more pressing.

Recent reports indicate that Tottenham have already made inquiries about Puado, and should they submit a formal offer, Sevilla may find it difficult to compete due to financial constraints.

Puado is undoubtedly a player to keep an eye on in his position, and it’s only natural for Tottenham’s management to look towards foreign markets like Spain, given the intense financial competition in the Premier League and the vast disparity between the financial capabilities of English clubs compared to their Spanish counterparts.
