Rumours have recently surfaced linking Real Madrid with Tottenham defender Pedro Porro, and a former Spurs man has made a rather spot-on remark about the Spanish full-back's reaction.

Pedro Porro's strong performances for Tottenham have earned him recognition among the best right-backs in the world.

However, his recent remarks about a potential move to Real Madrid have sparked debate among Spurs supporters and led to criticism from former Tottenham scout Bryan King.

Since his arrival at Tottenham, Porro's journey has seen a significant transformation. Following a shaky start, the Spaniard has found his rhythm and is now a key player in the squad.

Reports suggest that his form hasn’t gone unnoticed by top clubs, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

In response to these rumours, Porro told Spanish outlet Relevo that he felt “proud” to be linked to a club of Madrid’s calibre.

While his comments were intended to reflect his admiration for the Spanish giants, they have caused a stir among some Spurs supporters, who fear they could lose one of their top talents.

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King was quick to weigh in on the situation, criticising Porro for what he sees as a lack of respect for his current club. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said:

"His job is to play for Tottenham. That is the club that pays him, if he isn’t playing and he becomes unsettled, then maybe he can start talking about moving clubs. Until then, Tottenham are your club, get on with the job."

King did, however, acknowledge the quality that Porro has displayed to attract the attention of a club like Real Madrid. He added:

"Of course he will be proud. Real Madrid are one of the world’s biggest clubs, and if they’re seriously interested, it means he is doing something right."

"We’ve seen Cristian Romero linked to Madrid. Spurs have a relationship with them, they’ve had Luka Modric, and Gareth Bale go there."

Some fans are feeling a bit torn. They get that being linked to one of the world’s biggest clubs is a huge compliment, but they also want their players to stay fully committed to Tottenham.

These days, it feels like players are all too ready to speak out about transfer rumours without really thinking through how their words might be taken.

Just as Bryan King pointed out, sometimes the best approach for a player is to keep their focus on their current team and simply say, “no comment” when asked about other clubs.
