Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe could be the replacement for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham due to a new investment in the club, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur could be facing a managerial shake-up, with reports suggesting that Amanda Staveley, a prominent football investor, is considering a change in the dugout.

The current Newcastle United boss, Eddie Howe, has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou if the Australian fails to meet expectations at Spurs.

According to sources from The Sun, Staveley, who is on the verge of finalising a substantial investment in Tottenham, sees Howe as the ideal successor to Postecoglou.

Her admiration for Howe stems from his impressive work at Newcastle, where he transformed the club into a genuine contender for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Staveley’s reputation in football is well-established, particularly after playing a crucial role in the Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United in 2021.

During that deal, she secured a 10% stake in the club alongside the Saudi Public Investment Fund, solidifying her influence at St. James’ Park.

However, she recently sold her remaining shares in Newcastle, paving the way for new ventures, with Tottenham potentially next in line.

While Ange Postecoglou has brought a breath of fresh air to Tottenham with his attacking style of play, the team’s results have been inconsistent.

Despite the positive changes on the pitch since his appointment, the club has endured their worst start to a season in over a decade.

This has led to some questioning whether Postecoglou is the right man to lead Spurs back into contention for European football.

Daniel Levy, Tottenham's chairman, continues to back Postecoglou, who signed a four-year contract when he joined the club last summer.

However, the potential involvement of Staveley could complicate things, especially if she presses for a managerial change.

Howe joins Brendan Rodgers, who has also been linked with both Tottenham and Everton recently. Rodgers currently seems content at Celtic, and as for Spurs, sacking Postecoglou at this stage appears premature.
