Tottenham target another Serie A defender

According to Rome-based media outlet Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham have identified Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode as a replacement for Emerson Royal.
They suggest that Fiorentina want "at least 20 million Euros" if they are to lose the services of Kayode this summer.
Kayode only turned 20 earlier this month, but featured 26 times in the league for Fiorentina last term, as well as 6 appearances in the UEFA Conference League, where the Florence club finished runners-up for a second year in a row.
The 20-year-old was sounded out by European football expert Zach Lowy as one of the biggest revelations in Serie A across the 23/24 season, as well as Patrick Dorgu, who has also been linked to Spurs this summer.
Kayode has 3 caps for Italy U21. Owing to his rapid progression and development, he went straight from the U19s to the U21s, skipping over the U20s. Like Dorgu, Kayode is also eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents.

Djed Spence has impressed during pre-season so far, but his future still remains up in the air. The defender recently stressed the need to play regularly, so even if Spurs want to keep him at the club, that feeling may not be reciprocated. Regardless of how much Spence impresses, Porro will be the first-choice right-back at the club.
Therefore, a new right-back will be needed if Spence and Emerson Royal both leave the club. Some fans would argue one is needed regardless, although of course, it would be hard to imagine it would be financially viable if Spurs don't sell both Spence and Royal.
Regardless, if the reports of Fiorentina wanting at least 20 million Euros are true, much like Dorgu, Spurs may see it as too much to spend on a player that wouldn't be a starter. Especially as non-homegrown players.
We will wait and see to see how this one develops.
