According to Calcio Lecce, Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs interested in the Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.

Lecce are understood to be demanding a minimum fee of 30 million Euros to part ways with their defender during this summer transfer window.

Dorgu, still just 19, was praised for his performances last season, scoring 2 goals and creating 3 big chances in 17 Serie A starts.

However, as mentioned above, it appears that Lecce are holding out for a big fee if they are to sell their defender. He has three years left on his current contract, so there is no immediate need to sell.

Dorgu is a Denmark U21 international, making 6 appearances since making his debut last year. He is also eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents.

Tottenham looking at left-back, as too are London rivals

The 19-year-old came through at FC Nordsjælland, known for their development of young players through the "Right to Dream academy", recently producing the likes of Mohammed Kudus. He was spotted and snapped up by Lecce in 2022.

The last left-back Spurs signed from Serie A has not worked out too badly at all, and is a good omen - but unless Lecce reduces their asking price, it would be a surprise to see Spurs sanction this deal.

A good cover for Destiny Udogie is important, especially with Spurs playing more games than last season. Having the likes of Emerson and Skipp filling in at left-back was far from ideal, and requisite cover would be really useful. Jamie Donley has been starting there in pre-season in the absence of Udogie, which tells its own story.

However, at that sort of money, it would be argued that Spurs would be better off improving the XI, rather than the squad, and as a result, should be looking at the top end of the pitch with that money before left-back.
