Tottenham Hotspur's ongoing battle with injuries has extended into the new Premier League season, casting a shadow over their aspirations for a strong start.

The latest setback came in their opening fixture against Leicester City, where midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a head injury that forced him off the pitch, further complicating Spurs’ injury-ridden squad.

The incident occurred in the 75th minute of the match, during an aerial duel with Leicester City's Abdul Fatawu. Bentancur, who was having a solid performance in midfield, was stretchered off the field to the applause of both sets of fans at the King Power Stadium.

His early exit was a significant blow to Tottenham, who were looking to secure three points in their first game of the season.

In his place, 18-year-old Archie Gray was brought on, marking his Premier League debut for Tottenham. While the youngster's introduction was a positive note, the focus remained on Bentancur’s condition, as concerns grew about the severity of his injury.

According to reports from London World, Bentancur underwent immediate medical evaluations post-match and will be closely monitored throughout the week.

The club’s medical team is following the standard concussion protocols to ensure his safety and well-being. Although early assessments suggest that the injury may not be severe, Tottenham is expected to take a cautious approach, likely ruling Bentancur out of their upcoming fixture against Everton.

Tottenham's injury struggles are not new. Last season, the club's campaign was severely hampered by injuries to key players, and it appears those challenges have persisted into the new season.

Despite a strong start against Leicester, where Tottenham dominated early proceedings, the match ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw. Pedro Porro’s header had initially put Spurs ahead, but Jamie Vardy’s equalizer in the second half denied them a winning start.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Tottenham. In a timely boost, Yves Bissouma is expected to return to the squad after serving a suspension.

His return will be a big boost for the midfield, especially with Bentancur’s situation still up in the air. Tottenham’s coaching team is keeping their fingers crossed for a quick recovery for Bentancur, but whether he’ll be back soon depends on how things go with his concussion checks.
