Tottenham captain talks on his legacy at Spurs among other things
By Tom Vinall
Just like his manager, Spurs captain Heung Min-Son has spoken to Men in Blazers with a sit-down interview.
The Spurs number 7 was asked about his legacy at Spurs, to which he replied "There is only one thing in my mind, so it is easy to answer. I want to win. I want to win a trophy. A trophy to bring success to the team, especially when you are captain and win a trophy, it means something very, very special to me and also to my family, the club, and the squad. I will do anything for this. I am not calling myself a legend at this club right now. I want to win something."
Son continued "I need to work on every aspect of my game. As a footballer, there are only a few cases of a perfect player - Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo. I can improve every aspect. Every manager has a different system. I just want to adapt to him. When you think about an Ange Postecoglou perfect player - I want it to be Sonny. He gave a lot of speeches that influenced me so much. It is just so good to learn from different managers. I have had some amazing managers. Football seems easy, but football has to be perfect - every aspect, on the pitch and off. I want to improve every aspect."

Finally, Son was asked about returning to South Korea this summer [on the pre-season tour} to which he said - "It was a fantastic experience. It was my second time going with the team, but the last time we went there it was still a little like Covid times. Fans couldn't really show how their love. But this time it was amazing. It was fantastic. I couldn't sleep because I was so happy. I was so happy being in Korea and getting so much love, so much support. I was just so happy. I was lying down and I couldn't sleep. I saw so many people smiling because of us, because of me, it was a fantastic experience."
Son was given the captain's armband on the eve of last season by Ange Postecoglu after Hugo Lloris' idle Spurs career and the departure of Harry Kane. He largely delivered on this step up in responsibility, scoring 17 goals, providing 10 assists, and creating 20 big chances in 35 league games.
Son played a mix of games either off the left-hand side or up front last season, but with the arrival of Dominic Solanke and the talk that Ange wants Son to play out wide, we can expect the skipper to play exclusively from the left this season.
