Tottenham recently made a post on social media that some Arsenal fans have taken personally.

In the wake of Tottenham Hotspur’s recent 3-0 victory over Qarabag, a post on the club’s social media has sparked a heated reaction from Arsenal fans, who believe it was a thinly-veiled dig at their own team’s approach to a recent match.

The post highlighted how Spurs continued to play attacking football, even after going down to ten men early in the game.

Spurs, who were reduced to ten men against Qarabag, refused to sit back, maintaining their high-risk attacking philosophy under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Their efforts paid off, with a convincing win, thanks in part to some wasteful finishing from the visitors and a few superb saves by Guglielmo Vicario.

Following the victory, Tottenham’s social media team posted a message that many Arsenal fans found provocative. The post seemingly celebrated Spurs’ refusal to abandon their attacking approach, even when faced with the challenge of playing a man down.

Many Arsenal supporters interpreted this as a direct jab at their club, given the stark contrast in approach between the two sides when reduced to ten men.

In a recent match against Manchester City, Arsenal adopted a much more conservative strategy, pulling all their players back to defend in numbers after being reduced to ten men. This defensive approach helped them grind out a result but drew criticism from some for its lack of ambition.

Arsenal fans were quick to voice their frustration, pointing out that the quality of opposition made a significant difference.

They argued that comparing Qarabag to Manchester City was unfair, with City’s attacking prowess making it much riskier to continue pushing forward when a player down.

Some fans suggested that Arsenal’s approach was more pragmatic, prioritising the result over style, while others felt that Tottenham’s high-risk strategy could have backfired had they been facing stronger opposition.

Ange Postecoglou’s philosophy, however, is all about relentless attacking football, regardless of the situation.

The Australian manager is keen to instil a never-back-down mentality in his squad, encouraging them to always go for the win. His refusal to change tactics, even when faced with adversity, is becoming a hallmark of his tenure at Tottenham.
