On Monday evening Ben Davies, Brennan Johnson, and Wales picked up a huge three points in the nations league away to Montenegro, coming out 2-1 victors in Craig Bellamy's second game in charge.

Davies started, whilst Johnson was amongst the substitutes for the trip to Eastern Europe. It was the dream start for Wales, who went ahead in the first minute and two goals in front within the first three minutes of the game.

30 minutes into the game, whilst Wales were having to weather a Montenegrin storm, Davies came up with a big goal-line clearance to deny Driton Camaj, with Karl Darlow in the Wales goal well beaten.

Just before half-time, Connor Roberts pulled up with an injury and was replaced by Johnson, as Neco Williams moved from right-wing to right-back.

Despite further onslaught from their hosts, and a goal back from the aforementioned Camaj 17 minutes from time, Wales were able to hang on for a big victory to make it four points and an unbeaten start to the Craig Bellamy era.

Three points for Davies, Johnson and Wales in Nations League

Unlike against Turkiye, where he played as a left central defender in a back four, Davies started at left-back, playing the whole 90 minutes as he captained his side. The Spurs defender recorded; three clearances (including the one off the line), three blocked shots, two interceptions, two tackles, one big chance created, 5/7 ground duels won, and three fouls drawn.

It was a superb performance from the Spurs number 33, who may have a part to play this season considering the intense schedule. It is well documented that Spurs have a lack of cover at left-back for Destiny Udogie, particularly with Sergio Reguilon having no future at the club despite not leaving yet, but Davies is doing his chances of being the first choice deputy no harm at all with his two performances over the international break.

It was a pretty uneventful display from Johnson, but Wales were already on the back foot by the time he entered the game, despite it being just before half-time. Both players have now completed their international duty and will return to N17 ahead of Sunday.
