Wales kicked off their Nations League campaign with a goalless draw at home to Turkey at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday night, with both Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson named in Craig Bellamy's first game since taking over from Rob Page in the summer.

Johnson started on the right wing, whilst Davies started at left centre-back, even though Bellamy played with a flat back four. Davies has actually been around long enough to have played with his new manager, with both him and Bellamy starting a World Cup qualifier against Serbia all the way back in 2013.

Despite Turkey having a seriously impressive campaign at the European Championships, where they were narrowly beaten by The Netherlands in the semi-finals, and boasting players such as Arda Guler, Wales completely dominated the game, missing three big chances in the first half whilst having 68% possession at the same time.

Baris Alper Yilmaz was sent off for a second bookable offence 17 minutes into the second half to give Wales the man advantage, but they could not make it count as Turkey tightened up at the back and made it very hard for their hosts to break them down.

Johnson and Davies both played the 90 minutes, despite three substitutions from Bellamy. It was a quiet game from Johnson, but Davies played well and showed good on-ball abilities, recording 115 touches and completing 100 out of 107 passes, as Wales looked to dominate possession and territory throughout the game.

They will have been frustrated to not have won the game, considering the big chances and how Turkey played half an hour with ten men, but it is still a respectable result against a side that have done so well recently.

Next up for the Spurs pair and their Wales counterparts is a trip to Montenegro on Monday, with kick-off being 19:45 BST and 14:45 ET.
