Tottenham player on transfer list for months still open to staying
Sergio Reguilon’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be a hot topic as the Turkish transfer window remains open. Despite the closure of the primary transfer window, the 27-year-old Spanish left-back is still facing an uncertain situation at Tottenham, with the club’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, making it clear that Reguilon is not currently in his plans.
Reguilon’s position at Tottenham has been precarious, especially considering he is entering the final year of his contract. His continued presence at the club, despite the transfer window closing, has surprised many observers.
Reguilon has been largely sidelined, and Postecoglou has explicitly stated that there are no guarantees for the defender’s integration into the squad if he remains with the team. This has left Reguilon with a crucial decision to make as he looks for a way out before the Turkish transfer deadline passes.

According to football journalist Ben Jacobs, Reguilon was close to joining French club Lille earlier this summer. However, the move fell through when Lille and Tottenham could not agree on the terms. Tottenham had insisted on a loan arrangement that included either an obligation to buy or a significant purchase option, conditions that Lille found too steep to accept. As a result, Reguilon’s anticipated move to France did not materialize, leaving him still at Hotspur Way.
Jacobs says that while Reguilon’s immediate future at Tottenham seems bleak, the possibility of a move to Turkey remains. Reguilon is expected to explore opportunities in the Turkish market, where he may find a suitable club. Fenerbahce, managed by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, is a potential destination for Reguilon.
Despite the uncertainty, Jacobs suggests that if Reguilon does stay at Tottenham, he might still have a chance to reintegrate into the squad, albeit under unlikely circumstances. Reguilon could take inspiration from Djed Spence, who managed to make a comeback after initially being out of favour.
