Sergio Reguilon’s future at Tottenham is on shaky ground. The 27-year-old Spanish left-back, who once showed great promise at Spurs, has been given a clear-cut choice by the club: find a move to Turkey or face the possibility of spending the season on the bench, according to Football Insider.

Reguilon's situation is a stark contrast to the optimism that surrounded his arrival in North London in 2020. After joining Tottenham from Real Madrid on a five-year deal, Reguilon quickly established himself as a key player under former manager Jose Mourinho.

Over the past two seasons, Reguilon's struggles have seen him loaned out to several clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford. While these stints provided him with valuable playing time, they failed to secure him a permanent move away from Tottenham.

His most recent loan at Brentford was perhaps the most promising, with the left-back notching four assists in 16 appearances. Despite this, a long-term deal did not materialize, leaving Reguilón in a difficult position as he returned to Spurs this summer.

The arrival of Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham's new manager has further complicated matters for Reguilon. The Australian coach has made it clear that the Spaniard is not part of his plans, deeming him surplus to requirements as he looks to reshape the squad. Tottenham, keen to offload Reguilon and avoid paying his wages for the final year of his contract, has pinned their hopes on a last-minute move to Turkey.

Despite initial interest from several clubs earlier in the transfer window, no agreement was reached, leaving Reguilon's future uncertain. With the Turkish transfer window set to close imminently, time is running out for the left-back to secure a move and avoid being frozen out at Tottenham.

For the player's sake, I hope it gets resolved soon, and that he can move to at least one of the top teams in Turkey.
