The always reliable Paul O Keefe has said that Tottenham Hotspur missing out on Pedro Neto was a real blow for the club because they thought that deal was going to happen.

O Keefe also stated that Spurs did make an offer for the Portuguese winger, with the said offer being around £40m and unwanted midfielder Oliver Skipp.

As people will have seen by now, the 24-year old opted for Chelsea, who sign most players with a pulse, and the signing was confirmed last weekend.

It was very recently where O Keefe suggested that Spurs "would go in for" Pedro Neto or Eberechi Eze, as well as their striker target.

Well, in Dominic Solanke - Spurs got their striker target. In Pedro Neto, one of their attacking midfield/winger targets have gone - so could we see a move for Eberechi Eze?

The Palace attacking midfielder has been linked with Spurs for what feels like forever and a day, and has also been consistently linked to Manchester City over the course of the summer.

One would suggest that he probably isn't what Spurs need, however. Whilst the England international has played out wide in his career, he is undoubtedly better through the middle, and Spurs are fairly well stocked there.

Whilst James Maddison hasn't been at his best in 2024, compatriots Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall are chomping at the bit for a starting position in the number ten role behind Solanke.

The money that would be spent on Eze would be much better spent getting a right-winger as well as cover for Destiny Udogie at left-back. If Spurs were willing to bid £40m for Neto earlier in the window, a similar amount of money must still be available to spend.

Of course, Solanke has been signed since then but Spurs would have been conscious of the fact they needed a striker when they bid for Neto so one would assume that the money is still there to use.

Furthermore, they might get money for Skipp on his own, so those funds could be put towards targets.

According to Fabrizio Romano - Spurs are still considering signing another forward internally, and he expects the club to be busy in the coming weeks.
