Paul O Keefe has confirmed on his Twitter account (pokeefe1) that Tottenham Hotspur will try and make a move for Eberchi Eze this summer.

The Crystal Palace man drew several plaudits for his performances during the run-in last season and is expected to be well sought after throughout this coming summer.

Eze was rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad. It's an especially nice redemption story after discovering he was called for the Euro 2020 squad just minutes after tearing his ACL in training.

Eze has three years remaining on his current contract at Palace, and with QPR holding a sell-on clause, the South London side won’t be wanting to sell him for any less than his reported £60m release clause.

Tottenham interest in Eze confirmed

Not only is this in isolation a lot of money for a chairman as stingy as Daniel Levy, but it would also have to be paid upfront like release clauses generally are. It would be a fair surprise if Spurs were willing to do that.

However, O Keefe mentioned that Eze is one of “the club's most desired targets this summer” so if Spurs really want him as much as implied above, perhaps they will show some needed ambition and pay the money required.

Eze is a maverick player and has a 1v1 ability that Spurs so desperately need and crave. For an elite, homegrown player in his prime, any fee would be worth it. Just get it done.
