Tottenham Hotspur have already proven their activity in the 2024 summer transfer window. Last time out, Ange Postecoglou made some wise decisions in the transfer window but this time, he is more educated on the squad, its depth, and what is needed from him in the transfer market.

One of those areas of concern for the Aussie boss is to sign a new striker this summer. It is widely documented that Spurs would like to sign a central bagsman, which is no surprise considering they went the whole of last season without an out-and-out striker.

Since Harry Kane left to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Tottenham have been without a guaranteed goal-scorer, and it affected them when it mattered the most last season.

£40m Tottenham transfer offer rejected by Premier League rivals

According to a report from Football Transfers, Ivan Toney of Brentford has already agreed personal terms to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer. However, after submitting an opening bid for Ivan Toney, Tottenham saw their £40m offer rejected. It is reported that Brentford want £65m for Toney ideally, but they would likely accept around £55m to get the deal over the line.

So, long story short, Tottenham's £40m offer is still far below the minimum Brentford will accept. However, this should not be cause for concern. After all, it is common practice, particularly this early into the transfer window, to offer a lower price than you are prepared to pay, since this allows for more wiggle room in the transfer negotiation period.

Ivan Toney is a Premier League proven striker, who is in the process of getting back to his best. He missed most of last season via a ban from the sport, issued for breaching gambling regulations. The prolific English striker has been a mainstay for Brentford in their incredible rise to the top of the English game.

Now representing England at EURO 2024, Ivan Toney is linked with a move away in the summer transfer window. To be frank, Brentford seemed to prepare for his departure during the length of his ban. The transfer of Ivan Toney has been a long-time-coming, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and now Tottenham linked with him for a long time.

Tottenham fans anticipate another bid from Tottenham as it will be new and improved. After all, Brentford's valuation is fair, but Spurs can certainly negotiate. And negotiate they will.
