Per Pete O'Rourke, transfer correspondent for Football Insider, newly promoted and familiar face Leicester City have set their sights on signing Oliver Skipp from Spurs.

He says that Spurs "could be open" to allowing the midfielder to leave the club this summer, despite the academy graduate being a popular name amongst the fanbase.

Leicester are "in the market" for midfielders after losing their star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who followed manager Enzo Maresca to West London this summer.

Skipp has made 77 Premier League appearances for Spurs, scoring once, against Chelsea in February of 2023.

The 23-year-old featured in only 21 Premier League games last season, starting just 5 of those, and you would imagine will be seeking regular first-team football next season.

Despite Spurs being willing to let Skipp go, the midfielder still has 3 years left on his contract, so Spurs will want to command a respectable fee.

There has been recent transfer business between the two clubs in recent times, with James Maddison and Harry Winks heading in opposite directions last summer.

O'Rourke also mentioned that Skipp's future could also depend on the future of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, with several clubs still interested in the Danish midfielder.

Skipp feels fairly surplus to requirements at Spurs, particularly in a starting role, but Spurs will be playing a lot more games than last season with their upcoming Europa League campaign, and also, ideally, deeper runs in the domestic cups. This means the squad will need to be used a lot more than last season and depth will be key. However, the sale of Skipp could raise funds to add depth of higher quality.

And, of course, especially in a summer where Spurs have lost Ryan Sessegnon, Troy Parrott, and Joe Rodon, homegrown players are key and Skipp is exactly that. This could mean Spurs prioritize the sale of Højbjerg instead.
