Tottenham left it until late to beat Coventry City in the EFL Cup. However, above all else, one Tottenham player proved fans wrong, in the best possible way.

The win against Coventry City was not the most inspiring Tottenham performance I've ever seen. Regardless, the job was done and now Tottenham will progress to the next EFL Cup round.

The game did feature quite a nice moment, though. Of all people to step up and score the winner against Coventry in injury time, it had to be Brennan Johnson.

The Wales international was under the microscope after Tottenham lost to Arsenal in the North London derby. In fact, the scrutiny got to him, as he deleted his social media after the loss.

Last night against Coventry City, Brennan Johnson proved the Tottenham fans wrong. In a nice way, he rekindled some of the love which may have been lost by a minority of Tottenham fans.

Such is the nature of the sport, it is often the voice of the minority which is amplified, particularly when the minority is shelling hateful messages towards players. So, for Johnson to silence those critics last night is something that every Tottenham fan should celebrate.

Next up for Tottenham, they face Brentford at home in the Premier League. Having won just one league game all season, Spurs will hope to add to their tally against the Bees this weekend.

It remains to be seen whether or not Johnson starts that match. Given that he was involved in midweek, I would assume he starts on the bench. But still, he will have plenty of confidence from scoring a late winner.

Ange Postecoglou recently confirmed that Wilson Odobert had suffered an unfortunate injury. While the timescale of his absence remains to be seen, there are slots in the Tottenham lineup which are opening up for fringe players such as Johnson.
