Ange Postecoglou confirms unfortunate Tottenham injury blow
By Kian Long
Ange Postecoglou was happy with his side's EFL Cup win last night. However, the Aussie boss has confirmed an unfortunate Tottenham injury blow to a key player.
Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways against Coventry. It wasn't smooth-sailing but they got the job done. After going a goal down, Tottenham scored two late goals in quick succession.
So, Tottenham fans can ultimately be happy, right?
Wrong. In true Tottenham fashion, despite picking up an important EFL Cup win to progress to the next round, there is further cause for concern for Ange Postecoglou.
One of his players was subbed off through injury before the 20-minute mark. Now, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed it's a significant injury blow.
But which Tottenham player is injured?
Ange Postecoglou confirms unfortunate Tottenham injury blow
According to a report from The Athletic, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Wilson Odobert is injured, after coming off in the 18th minute against Coventry.
In his own words, Postecoglou said: “Hard to say. Wilson [Odobert injury] looks fairly significant so we’ll just wait and see.”
Wilson Odobert only joined in the summer transfer window. He has not set the world alight but in truth, neither have his teammates. If anything, he has been one of the more promising Tottenham players so far this season.
The injury is still fresh. Ange Postecoglou was speaking after the match, so he can only go off what the doctors can inform him of, which is minimal information given the timescale.
Hopefully, as more is known is about Odobert's injury, it will appear easier to manage than initially thought. After all, the schedule is only set to become busier, so every manager would benefit from having all of their troops rallied.
Last season, Wilson Odobert made 29 appearances for Vincent Kompany's Burnley side. Ultimately, they were relegated, but the youngster still picked up plenty of invaluable Premier League appearance.
Hopefully, he only continues to prosper at Tottenham. But first, he must focus on his injury recovery.
