Arsenal and Tottenham need absolutely no introducing to each other. The two North London rivals have been involved in multiple tussles on the pitch, but in recent times, they have extended their rivalry to the transfer window. Given that both sides have ambitions of challenging for the Premier League title, it is natural they compete for the same calibre of player in the transfer market.

This summer is no different. In fact, most of the buildup to the summer transfer window revolved around one player, Ivan Toney. It was up in the air as to whether he would join Arsenal or Tottenham. With just over a week remaining in the transfer window, he remains a Brentford player. But not for long...

Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target decides his move

According to an update from Caught Offside, Ivan Toney looks set to join the Saudi Pro League, after neither Arsenal or Tottenham met Brentford's valuation to sign him. In fact, friend of the Toney family Jon Smith even told Caught Offside that he's "convinced" Ivan Toney has settled on the Saudi Pro League as his next destination after Brentford, despite Arsenal and Tottenham links.

In his own words, Jon Smith said: “I’m pretty convinced now, after everything that I’m hearing, that Ivan Toney is on his way to Saudi Arabia.”

From Tottenham's perspective, their transfer interest in Ivan Toney would have ended the second they signed Dominic Solanke. While the England international got off to a slow start in Tottenham colours on Monday evening, he is one of the best signings of the summer. Tottenham already fulfilled their duties to replace Harry Kane, so there is no need to sign Toney.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have not signed a striker. However, the growing consensus there is that Mikel Arteta is happy with Kai Havertz as the striker. Therefore, there doesn't look to be any late pursuit for Ivan Toney from either North London club.

Where do you think Ivan Toney will play this season?
