Tottenham are said to be pushing to complete the £60million signing of Manchester City winger Savinho this summer. The Brazilian has been a target of Tottenham's in the past, and it looks as though they will finally their man this summer.

Having struggled for regular starts at City, Savinho appears to be willing to make the move, although he does want certain assurance first, given Tottenham's poor form over the last couple of years.

Rave Guardiola reviews

While Savinho struggled for regular starts under Pep Guardiola, the Spaniard was always bullish in his praise of the Brazilian, who still made 36 appearances across all competitions.

He said last year: "We’re a way from what we have to be as a team, but Savinho made an incredible performance again like he did against Everton. He’s a guy who can play on both sides, today he finally scored a goal.

“He has an incredible ability and quality he’s proven in that period. He arrived in the six months when the team isn’t in the best moment than maybe he expected, compared with the past.

“He makes one action fine, second fine, third miss it, four mistake, five mistake, the sixth try again and try again and try again. And until the end he tries. Defensively he’s not incredible in the one v one, but his work rate is impressive and he’s so aggressive on both sides.

“He’s had a lot of chances but the moment you score one or two, you’ll score a lot. I’m really pleased for him for the game, the goal, the assist for Erling. On the left he can make those crosses, the game he played was really good.”

Michel's take

If that praise wasn't enough, back in 2024, Savinho's then Girona boss Michel had high praise for him after the Catalan side shocked everyone in securing a top four LaLiga finish, qualifying for Europe in the process.

"When I saw Sávio on first training session I said: we’re gonna play in Europe next season, he’s special," he said. "He’s the best player I’ve ever had."

Such reviews are not exactly common, and it's no surprise to see Tottenham paying a big fee for a player they have admired for some time. Savinho is a productive winger, and the best part is that he is nowhere near his prime.

The Brazilian is still only 22 years of age, and there is little doubt that the best is yet to come. In fact, we are yet to see what he can produce when he starts week-in, week-out over a long period of time in the Premier League.

Tottenham are hoping to find out, with Savinho set to become an instant starter should the propsed £60million deal go through this summer.
