Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of work to do this summer, and are not wasting any time. A chastening campaign has forced an unpopular hierarchy into action, with holes needing to be filled across the board.

Andy Robertson has already joined as a free agent, and Marcos Senesi will soon follow. That's the left side of the defence sorted. Spurs are also willing to spend big to bring Jan Paul van Hecke to north London, with Cristian Romero expected to depart after the World Cup. It could cost us £50m to sign the Brighton & Hove Albion defender, who has just a year left on his contract.

A midfield passer is also on the agenda, and there's bound to be a serious reshuffle in attack, too. Out wide, Spurs were far too reliant on Mohammed Kudus last season and we cannot count upon Dejan Kulusevski to be fit and firing come the start of 2026/27. We need more quality down the flanks.

Thus, interest in an old flame has resurfaced. Spurs are back in for Savinho, and Manchester City's transfer plans suggests they're resigned to letting the Brazilian walk.

City are more open to letting Savinho leave this summer after blocking his move to north London a year ago. The Brazilian endured a quiet season in Manchester, having offered promise in year one. If Spurs are able to strike a deal with the Cityzens, they'll be buying potential rather than the finished article.

The latest reports point towards a deal being struck soon, with Tottenham insider @szyexcl understanding that only the add-ons need to be sorted. I'm guessing the Brazilian will set us back around £50m.

While Savinho only played sporadically last season, City may first want to ensure they have a replacement lined up before shifting him. Interest is starting to emerge in Everton's Iliman Ndiaye.

Now, the Senagalese international, who's previously been tenuously linked with Spurs, is not a like-for-like Savinho replacement. Much of his best work with the Toffees has come down the left-hand side, with forays down the right less frequent and effective. Nevertheless, Alan Nixon (via City Xtra) says that City like Ndiaye's versatility and are considering him as a potential "squad signing".

As I said, I don't think Ndiaye would be a direct Savinho replacement, but he'd likely fulfil the Brazilian's role in the squad.
