What on earth just happened? This time yesterday, Spurs fans had no idea they'd be signing Morgan Gibbs-White but fast forward to this time today, not only had the release clause been met (apparently), but Nottingham Forest are now taking legal action against the transfer.
I guess the old saying rings true - No two days are the same, being a Tottenham fan.
Still, on either side of the fence, there's no denying that this high-octane transfer race (is it even a transfer anymore? who knows?) is more entertaining than others.
It's like an action movie at this stage.
Within the last few hours, Nottingham Forest were planning a complaint to the Premier League over how they felt Tottenham acted in the transfer for Morgan Gibbs-White. At the time, the report said that Forest would then consider legal action... Which they now will.
Nottingham Forest to take legal action against Spurs
In another follow-up from Fabrizio Romano on Instagram, this could lead to the deal being delayed or even end up in doubt.
In his own words, Romano said: "Nottingham Forest are set for legal action against Tottenham for Gibbs-White. Forest have reported Spurs to the Premier League this afternoon for making an "illegal approach" ans have threatened legal action as the following step."
"Spurs have received formal communication where the club asked them to cease contact with Gibbs-White... Tottenham remain sure of their correct behaviour and wants to proceed with the deal."
At the time of writing this, Morgan Gibbs-White is a Nottingham Forest player. Before Forest submitted their report to the Premier League, Spurs never announced Gibbs White as a new signing, it was the "Here We Go" from Romano which got fans excited.
Morgan Gibbs-White deal now in doubt
Now, that "Here We Go" could turn into a "Here We No". The deal is now in doubt, and fans don't know what to believe anymore.
While Spurs fans would like to believe the club acted with good intent, it's hard to assume that with the man spearheading transfers.
Morgan Gibbs-White could be a great Spurs player if that deal ever pushes through. It would be intriguing for anyone to watch how he progresses under Thomas Frank, as it seems like the perfect relationship at face value.
Bur right now, Tottenham fans will sit twiddling their thumbs, eating their popcorn and sipping their soda while they wait for this legal dispute to unfold.
