Within the last hour, the Tottenham world has been completely rocked. After over two decades of service at the club, Daniel Levy has officially stepped down from his role.

Those two and a half decades were not without their drama, but one thing can be said for certain: Daniel Levy improved Tottenham. Sure, he went about it in unorthodox ways, but he always had the best of the Club, his Club, at heart.

And it is likely for this same reason that Daniel Levy has officially stepped away from Tottenham. He is leaving at the right time, with a new manager at the helm, and of course, as a Europa League champion.

Peter Charrington makes Tottenham promise after Daniel Levy exit

Tottenham revealed in their club statement that a new member of the board, Peter Charrington, will step into the new Non-Executive Chairman role. It was part of what Tottenham dubbed a "succession plan," which also included Thomas Frank's appointment as head coach.

In a statement, Peter Charrington was very thankful to Daniel Levy for all the work he's done at a club. While remaining respectful to the man who led Spurs for over two decades, he did promise a new era for the club.

In his own words, Charrington said: “I am very honoured to become Non-Executive Chairman of this extraordinary Club and, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Daniel and his family for their commitment and loyalty to the Club over so many years."

Charrington continued: “This is a new era of leadership for the club, on and off the pitch. I do recognise there has been a lot of change in recent months as we put in place new foundations for the future. We are now fully focused on stability and empowering our talented people across the Club, led by Vinai and his executive team.”

That's exactly what Tottenham fans wanted to hear. While it might not have felt it at times, the club was stable and forward-thinking under Daniel Levy. He always had one eye on the present, but two eyes on the future.

This is why Tottenham remained one of the most financially intelligent clubs out there under his tutelage, and Tottenham fans want that to continue.

If Charrington can promise stability and empowerment to those who make the Club what it is, and more importantly, if he can keep that promise, then Spurs fans will be on board.
