Well, it's been a whirlwind of a few months for Tottenham Hotspur. The North London side has seen it all recently, from transfer hijacks to legal disputes with clubs and signing players they would've never expected.
All in all, the 2025 summer transfer window was a good one for Tottenham. In fact, that's an understatement; it probably couldn't have been better, all things considered.
And that transfer window perfectly summarizes Daniel Levy, and his time at the club. From fan uproar at the start to the belting sound of "okay, fair enough."
And now, Tottenham won't experience anything quite like that whirlwind of emotions that Daniel Levy continuously brought to the table.
Daniel Levy has officially left Tottenham
Within the last hour, Tottenham has officially confirmed the departure of Daniel Levy. He's stepped down from his role and, in the words of the club statement, "there are no changes to the ownership or shareholder structure of the Club."
As you might imagine, the Tottenham fanbase doesn't know how to feel right now. Sure, Levy might have annoyed the heck out of Tottenham fans, but he was also a key spearhead in turning them into the club they are today.
On Reddit, Tottenham fans are mostly seeing the bright side of Daniel Levy. One Redditor said: "Daniel deserves praise for the daily run of the club. He’s taken us from Alan Sugar demise to a well run machine that is Tottenham Hotspur. Thank you!"
Another chimed in with the positive take: "He was immensely frustrating but the very things that made him frustrating also made the club extremely well run from a revenue perspective."
And it's that take which couldn't describe Daniel Levy any better. From the fans' perspective, he was the worst person in the world to be in charge of the club. Constant failed deals, negotiations taking too long and just all-round transfer shortcomings.
But underneath all that was a well-oiled machine. Beneath the chaos was a financially well-run club, that turned unheard of players into world beaters.
Nobody paid much attention to the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dele Alli or Luka Modric before they signed for Tottenham, in the Levy era. Look at them now.
That's not to mention that Tottenham hardly spent a dime. Supporters screamed at Levy for not spending much, but hey, the running of their Club sure beat the running of Man United and Chelsea, with the opposite approach.
As you might imagine, X (formerly Twitter) is a much different atmosphere. Fans over there take the glass-half-empty approach towards Levy, so right now, a lot of them are celebrating.
One fan said "we're free" and another neutral fan (we think) said "This is fantastic news for Spurs. They need a chairman who puts trophies before penny pinching. Levy wasn’t ambitious enough."
It's a weird one, this. Let it sink in.
