One Tottenham star has been tipped for a move away this summer amid transfer speculation surrounding his future. Spurs are in for a squad overhaul this summer, with Roberto De Zerbi likely to want big changes after getting his feet under the table in the final weeks of last season.
Spurs cannot afford another bottom half finish, and it looks as though the club will fund De Zerbi's mission to secure a European qualification bid next season.
But while there have already been signings, and there will be more, we are also likely to see a handful of exits at Spurs this summer. A number of key players are attracting interest, and one of them is starting goalkeeper Vicario.
Vicario backed for Spurs exit
Vicario is being heavily linked with a move back to his home country this summer, and both Inter Milan and Juventus have been linked.
In terms of the former, legendary former Italy goalkeeper Dino Zoff has backed Vicario to fit in nicely.
He told Calciomercato: “I like him: he’s a complete goalkeeper, and I think his experience in England has helped him grow a lot.”
It must be noted that Zoff also approved of the Emiliano Martinez links, and the Argentine might be ahead of Vicario if he decides to leave Aston Villa, although there is no certainty in that.
Vicario has been a solid performer for Spurs for the most part, but an exit does seem likely. Fans will have loved to see how much Tottenham's survival meant to Vicario last season, with the Italian having been an animated figure on the sideline during the final game.
The keeper also threw his weight behind Antonin Kinsky in a true show of what it means to be a good teammate, and should he leave, he will surely go with only best wishes from Spurs fans because of that.
Spurs would be left with a dilemma
Should Vicario leave, De Zerbi would be left with the dilemma of whether to sign a new starting goalkeeper or go with Kinsky, who he clearly likes. The young keeper enjoyed a superb end to last season and played a key role in the fight for safety.
Competition would be required, but it's not out of the question that Spurs give Kinsky the chance to be number one. Alternatively, they could sign a new bona fide number one and allow Kinsky to continue to develop as the cup keeper and the keeper who pushes for starts behind the number one.
