Tottenham Hotspur will face Everton on Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 Premier League season this Saturday at home, and they will seek nothing less than Roberto De Zerbi's first win of the campaign. Although they failed to score for a third game in a row last weekend, Spurs were at least able to get a point out of their matchup against Nottingham Forest, with the midfield improving significantly.
Here is a look at three Tottenham stars who need to step up the most as Spurs seek all three points against the very same Everton they beat on Matchday 38 of the 2025/26 season to secure Premier League survival.
DM Sandro Tonali
Tottenham Hotspur defensive midfielder Sandro Tonali had his best game of the season against Nottingham Forest last weekend, and while that isn't necessarily saying much since he was so shockingly woeful against both Brentford and even his former employers Newcastle United, the Italian international still genuinely looked good against Forest. And he will need to look even better both in possession and creatively against Everton, especially with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall looking like he's on absolute fire for the Evertonians.
CF Omar Marmoush
Although Omar Marmoush had a strong debut in the starting 11 for Tottenham vs. Newcastle with several chances created and great bits of skill on the ball, he was quite poor against Nottingham Forest and as big of a reason as Mathys Tel as to why Spurs remain scoreless this season. Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs are entrusting Marmoush to lead the line, and if he fails again vs. a very tough Everton defense, then the conversation may open up to Dominic Solanke getting the nod at striker when Spurs face Liverpool and Aston Villa next in even tougher games.
RW Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus is still working his way back to fitness after a soft tissue injury that ended up costing him more time than expected, taking him out of the rest of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Kudus did not look good at all last weekend, and there may be doubts about him being fresh enough to start against Everton, too. But Kudus is one of the best options Spurs have right now, and they need him to be a force creatively and also take some shots on that left foot of his. Spurs need goals and assists, and they are hoping their big signing from 2025 can start providing some.
